New Marker to Commemorate the Founding of the Community of Ceresco and Warren Chase
The Ripon Historical Society will install an official State of Wisconsin historical marker in Ceresco Park, “The Wisconsin Phalanx and Warren Chase.” The new marker will commemorate both the community and the man who was a fierce supporter of the settlement and a social reformer. The marker will highlight the leadership of Warren Chase and his advocacy for equal rights regardless of race or sex, especially for married women.
Big Marker, Big Price Tag
The new marker comes with a big price tag, so the Society is currently seeking to raise $3000 in donations to cover the cost. We are asking for your support because we believe that the presence of a marker doesn’t just signal that something happened at a particular location; it indicates that a community is invested in passing that history on to others. The Society has dedicated substantial time and effort to garner state support and approval of this commemoration. Historical markers are an excellent educational tool, informing the public about significant events and people of Wisconsin’s past.
Please consider making a donation. Historical markers are a reflection of all those involved in helping to erect them. Invest in this communal effort!
